Getty Images experienced a remarkable 25% jump in its stock prices following the announcement of a multi-year licensing agreement with Perplexity AI. This collaboration will enable Perplexity to integrate Getty's extensive creative and editorial content into its AI-driven search tools. As part of the agreement, Perplexity plans to enhance the presentation of images on its platform by incorporating proper image credits and links to the original sources. Nick Unsworth, Getty Images' vice president of strategic development, emphasized the importance of such partnerships, stating that they contribute to improving the quality and accuracy of information for consumers, fostering a more engaging and trustworthy user experience. While the financial specifics of the deal remain under wraps, it's clear that Perplexity's innovative search engine is designed to provide users with straightforward answers and direct connections to original content online. The startup also offers an AI browser named Comet, which is accessible globally at no charge. This positions it as a competitor to tech giants like Google and OpenAI, the latter of which recently introduced its own browsing solution called ChatGPT Atlas. In a statement, Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas described the Comet browser as a tool that aims to serve as 'a true personal assistant' for users, enhancing the search experience further.
