Google’s Gemini AI is coming to your TV

Google is set to enhance the viewing experience with its AI assistant, Gemini, now available on Google TV. The tech giant announced this exciting development, enabling users to engage in dynamic, conversational interactions with the AI. Once fully implemented, Gemini will be accessible on over 300 million active Google TV and other Android TV OS-powered devices. This new feature aims to assist viewers in selecting shows, making it easier for families and friends with differing tastes to find common ground on what to watch. Additionally, Gemini can provide updates on missed seasons of favorite series or help users who can’t recall a specific movie title by offering recommendations based on reviews. But the capabilities of Gemini don’t stop there. This AI assistant is designed to address a wide range of inquiries, much like the existing AI chatbot available on smartphones. Whether it’s helping kids with homework, assisting families in planning vacations, or aiding individuals in learning new skills, the potential uses are vast. Importantly, Google assures users that the introduction of Gemini will not disrupt the functionality of the traditional Google Assistant. Commands previously available will continue to work seamlessly alongside the new AI features. The rollout of Gemini on Google TV kicks off with the TCL QM9K series starting today, with plans for further expansion throughout the year. Upcoming availability includes the Google TV Streamer, Walmart onn 4K Pro, and various models from Hisense and TCL, promising an evolving set of functionalities as Gemini continues to develop.
