Google rolls out Gemini in Chrome in seven new countries

In a significant move, Google has announced the expansion of its Gemini feature within Chrome, making it accessible in seven additional countries: Australia, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Vietnam. This rollout applies to both desktop and iOS platforms, with the exception of Japan. Since last year, Google has been progressively integrating AI capabilities through Gemini in Chrome, starting with a floating window interface. Earlier this year, the tech giant unveiled a sidebar assistant designed to help users navigate questions across multiple tabs. This assistant leverages the Personal Intelligence feature of Gemini, enabling connections to services like Gmail and Google Photos for tailored responses. Users can also take advantage of functionalities such as scheduling meetings through Calendar, retrieving location information via Maps, and drafting emails in Gmail, all within the Chrome environment. Additionally, Gemini allows users to manipulate web images using the Nano Banana 2 feature found in the sidebar. Initially launched for users in the U.S. in January, Gemini's availability expanded to India, Canada, and New Zealand in March. With this latest rollout, more users can now benefit from Gemini's enhanced features. However, it's worth noting that the agentic feature, which offers automated control of browser tasks, is still in testing and is currently limited to subscribers of the AI Pro and AI Ultra plans in the U.S.
