Gemini can now schedule tasks, send reminders and keep you on track: Here's how

Google's Gemini is stepping up its game with the introduction of a new feature that enables users to schedule tasks directly within the chatbot. This enhancement, which was first unveiled at the recent Google I/O conference, is now being made available to paying subscribers of AI Pro and AI Ultra, as well as eligible Google Workspace business and education plans. With these scheduling capabilities, Gemini can help users manage their tasks more effectively by allowing them to set actions for specific times. Users can create both one-off and recurring tasks based on their individual needs. According to Google, "With scheduled actions, you can streamline routine tasks or receive personalized updates directly from Gemini. Simply ask Gemini to perform a task at a certain time or turn a prompt you're already using into a recurring action." Users can schedule up to 10 tasks simultaneously, and they can easily view, edit, pause, or resume these tasks through the 'Scheduled Actions' section in the settings menu. Examples of what can be scheduled include daily summaries of calendars and to-do lists, weather updates with outfit suggestions, weekly news highlights, or recommendations for new local eateries to explore over the weekend. This launch comes at a strategic moment for Google as it aims to enhance its AI offerings amidst increasing competition from platforms like OpenAI's ChatGPT and China's DeepSeek. Notably, ChatGPT has already integrated a similar feature, allowing its premium users to set reminders and schedule recurring tasks, further intensifying the rivalry in the AI market.
