Gemini’s personalized AI image generation is now free for US users

In a significant update, Google has revealed that its Gemini application is now providing free access to its personalized image generation feature, powered by the innovative Nano Banana technology. This rollout, which began on Monday, allows all eligible users in the United States to create custom images, a service that was previously exclusive to Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers. The introduction of Nano Banana within Gemini has been a game-changer since its initial announcement in April. This feature enables the creation of imagery that mirrors users' unique interests without the need for detailed prompts. By leveraging insights from various Google services—such as Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube, and Search—Gemini can automatically generate images that resonate with the user’s preferences. For instance, instead of detailing a request like, "Create an illustration of me and my favorite things, such as coffee and baking," users can simply ask, "Create an illustration of me and my favorite things." Moreover, Gemini can access actual images stored in Google Photos, eliminating the need for users to manually upload photos. The Personal Intelligence feature, which debuted earlier this year, became widely available to U.S. users in March and has since been extended to audiences in India and Japan. Importantly, this feature requires user consent, allowing individuals to choose which applications can interact with Gemini. Once activated, it automatically applies to all prompts, but users can easily disable it via a new toggle in the Tools menu. In addition to this update, Google has hinted at several enhancements for the Gemini app, including a new “Daily Brief” feature, a redesigned interface, access to the AI video model Gemini Omni, and a personal AI assistant named Gemini Spark. Noteworthy is the fact that Google’s AI chatbot, Gemini, has surpassed an impressive 750 million monthly active users earlier this year, cementing its influence in the competitive landscape of artificial intelligence.
