Garmin launches Forerunner 970, 570 smartwatches in India, starting at₹66,990

Garmin has officially introduced its latest smartwatches, the Forerunner 970 and Forerunner 570, targeted at professional runners and fitness aficionados in India. The launch took place on Wednesday, showcasing devices that boast vibrant AMOLED displays alongside an impressive suite of health and fitness tracking functionalities. The Forerunner 570 is priced at ₹66,990, while its more advanced counterpart, the Forerunner 970, is available for ₹90,990. Both smartwatches can be purchased directly from the Garmin India website and come with a two-year warranty, ensuring peace of mind for buyers. Each model is designed with always-on AMOLED displays and offers a variety of connectivity options, including Bluetooth, ANT+, and Wi-Fi. They are equipped with a comprehensive array of sensors, including an accelerometer, gyroscope, barometric altimeter, ambient light sensor, compass, and heat sensor—each tailored to deliver precise health and performance metrics. Both smartwatches also feature built-in GPS capabilities and support additional satellite systems such as GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, and BeiDou. Key health monitoring features include heart rate tracking, blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) measurements, stress levels, respiratory rates, and sleep analysis. The Forerunner 570 is available in two sizes, 42mm and 47mm, and includes an aluminum bezel. It boasts a battery life of up to 11 days in standard smartwatch mode and up to 18 hours when using GPS. Conversely, the Forerunner 970 features a 47mm display with a durable scratch-resistant sapphire crystal lens and a titanium bezel. It also includes a built-in torch and is compatible with the HRM 600 heart rate monitor, which can provide advanced performance metrics, including insights on pace reduction at foot strike. Additionally, the Forerunner 970 offers tailored Garmin Coach training plans suitable for various athletic pursuits like running, triathlons, cycling, and strength training. Users can also benefit from a personalized readiness score that assesses recovery, sleep quality, and training load, along with dynamic route suggestions that help users return to their starting point. The Forerunner 970 claims a battery life of up to 15 days in smartwatch mode and up to 21 hours in GPS mode.
