Ganiga will showcase its waste-sorting robots at TechCrunch Disrupt 2025

In an era where environmental conservation is critical, Ganiga Innovation aims to revolutionize recycling with its AI-powered robotic waste bins. This Italian startup has developed three key products designed to enhance waste management and recycling processes. The flagship product, named Hoooly, is a fleet of robotic bins that utilize generative AI technology to accurately distinguish between trash and recyclable materials, ensuring efficient sorting. In addition to the robotic bins, Ganiga has introduced a smart lid that can be retrofitted onto existing waste containers, providing the same advanced sorting capabilities as its larger counterparts. Furthermore, the company offers a software solution that enables businesses to monitor their waste output and receive actionable insights on how to minimize waste production. Ganiga will showcase its groundbreaking technology at the Startup Battlefield competition during TechCrunch Disrupt 2025, taking place from October 27 to 30 in San Francisco. Founder and CEO Nicolas Zeoli expressed his aspirations of building a significant company, akin to Facebook or Apple, and emphasized the pressing need for effective waste management solutions, particularly in Italy, where waste issues are increasingly visible. “We all need to reclaim this problem,” Zeoli stated, highlighting alarming statistics about global plastic production and recycling rates. With over 100 million tons of plastic generated annually, only 9% is recycled, underscoring the urgency of their mission. Launched in 2021, Ganiga produced its first prototype the following year, focusing on creating a physical bin that not only facilitates proper recycling but also generates valuable data for future use. Zeoli noted that waste management can be costly for companies, especially those in Europe with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) obligations. He envisions Hoooly assisting businesses in better tracking their waste and reducing associated costs. Since commencing sales in 2024, Ganiga has successfully sold over 120 robotic bins to notable clients such as Google and various airports, including those in Bologna, Venice, and Madrid. In 2024, the company generated $500,000 in revenue, which has surged to $750,000 within the first nine months of 2025. With $1.5 million raised in pre-seed funding from investors, including clean tech venture capital firms, Ganiga is now seeking to secure a $3 million seed round. The company is set to launch its latest innovation, Hooolyfood, in November—a software product designed to assess food waste through camera imagery. Looking ahead, Ganiga plans to expand its software offerings based on the data gathered from its current products. While primarily focused on the European market, Zeoli expressed a desire to enter the U.S. market, with potential plans to relocate the company’s headquarters there by 2026. “Ganiga is the first startup globally to equip an airport with smart bins,” he added, emphasizing their commitment to delivering market-ready solutions rather than mere prototypes. To experience Ganiga’s innovations firsthand and witness numerous pitches and workshops, interested parties can learn more about TechCrunch Disrupt, scheduled for October 27 to 29 in San Francisco.
