Gamma adds AI image generation tools in bid to take on Canva and Adobe

Gamma, a cutting-edge platform specializing in AI-driven presentation and website creation, has announced the launch of its innovative image-generation tool, Gamma Imagine. This new feature aims to enhance marketing efforts by allowing users to generate brand-specific images using simple text prompts. With capabilities that include creating interactive charts, marketing materials, social media graphics, and infographics, Gamma is positioning itself to rival established names like Canva and Adobe. Currently, the platform offers over 100 templates that can be utilized alongside its AI functionalities, empowering users to create the visual content they require. To bolster its data-driven asset creation, Gamma is integrating with popular tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Make, Zapier, Atlassian, n8n, and Superhuman Go. Grant Lee, the CEO and co-founder of Gamma, shared insights on the development process, stating, "As we engaged with our early users, we identified a wide range of graphical design needs that extended beyond traditional presentations." He emphasized the collaboration with users to design tools that cater to various visual communication requirements. Lee believes Gamma occupies a unique space between professional-grade tools like Adobe and Figma and conventional software like Microsoft PowerPoint. He noted, "We aim to serve the often-overlooked segment of knowledge workers and business professionals who need to convey information visually but lack the necessary resources. Our AI-native solution is designed to meet their specific needs in this gap." In November, Gamma successfully raised $68 million in a Series B funding round led by a16z, achieving a valuation of $2.1 billion. At that time, the company reported an annual recurring revenue (ARR) of $100 million and 70 million users. As of recent updates, Gamma is on track to reach 100 million users.
