Samsung has officially started the rollout of its vibrant One UI 8 update, based on Android 16, for Galaxy S24 users. This latest version of the user interface initially made its debut with various Galaxy devices earlier this year, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 series. Currently, the update is being released in Korea with the firmware version S92xNKSU4CYI7. However, the timeline for global availability remains uncertain. This update not only enhances the Galaxy S24 series but also includes a broad range of other devices, such as the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, and Galaxy A series. One of the standout features of One UI 8 is its integration of Google Gemini, which introduces a context-aware AI. This intelligent assistant aims to streamline app usage by automating tasks based on user activity, minimizing the need to switch between applications. Additionally, the AI adapts to users’ daily routines, offering personalized suggestions and timely reminders. Moreover, Samsung is extending the AI functionalities that were previously exclusive to the Galaxy lineup, such as Generative Edits and Chat Assist, to older devices as well. The update also enhances the Now Bar and Now Brief features, enabling live notifications from a wider array of applications. Another notable addition is the revamped split-screen mode, reminiscent of the Open Canvas feature seen in OnePlus devices. Unlike the traditional 50:50 split, this new functionality allows users to drag an app to the edge of the screen, giving more space for the primary app, thereby enhancing multitasking capabilities.
