Mostofa began his career at Snap Inc. and subsequently moved to ZipRecruiter, where he earned a base salary of $145,000. However, his perspective shifted dramatically with the release of ChatGPT in late 2022. Completing dual degrees in computer science and mathematics, along with a minor in electrical engineering at Texas Tech, Mostofa was well-prepared academically. Yet, he faced significant hurdles regarding his visa status, which restricted his employment options. With legal assistance, he secured an O-1 visa, allowing him the flexibility to work as a contractor and pursue multiple opportunities. Since February, Mostofa has been contracted with Mercor, an AI-focused recruitment startup, where he works full-time on innovative AI products. His weekly income reflects not only his skills but also the growing demand for expertise in AI, a field he believes is ripe with potential.
