Amid the rapid rise of AI, former Nvidia employees are choosing to leave the tech giant to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams. This trend highlights a growing movement among tech professionals who, despite the allure of lucrative stock options and job security at Nvidia, feel compelled to forge their own paths. Antons Davis, after nearly a decade at Nvidia, found the courage to leave his stable position to explore new possibilities. During a transformative ayahuasca ceremony, he realized his calling as a healer, leading him to establish a life-coaching practice called Touch of Humane, followed by a tech startup, Osmo, which creates software for coaches. Davis’s departure came at a cost, as he walked away from what he estimates to be millions in stock compensation, driven by a desire for personal fulfillment beyond corporate life. Adnan Boz, who left Nvidia in 2023 to launch SoftwareAgent.AI, faced similar challenges. After delaying his departure multiple times to secure stock options, he recognized the constraints of waiting for financial incentives that continually shifted. At 54, he felt the pressure of time and made the leap to pursue his vision of autonomous AI programmers, despite leaving behind a significant equity stake. For Mo Nasir, the decision to leave Nvidia stemmed from a mix of entrepreneurial spirit and opportunity. After working on control systems for self-driving cars, he ventured into building software for regulated industries with his startup, Altrina. His acceptance into Y Combinator fueled his ambition, and despite the financial sacrifices, he realized that the potential returns of being a startup founder far outweighed the benefits of remaining an employee. Sam Karu, who departed Nvidia in 2025, took a different approach. With a desire to start a family and capitalize on his most productive years, he left without a specific startup idea but with the intention to create one. He established Logical, a Y Combinator-backed startup focused on developing an AI work assistant. Karu’s journey underscores the importance of timing and personal goals in the decision to leave a prestigious job. The shared experiences of these founders reveal that Nvidia's culture, led by CEO Jensen Huang, has instilled valuable lessons in resilience and innovation. Many former employees credit their time at Nvidia for helping them embrace failure as part of the entrepreneurial process, emphasizing that making mistakes is essential for refining their goals. As the AI landscape continues to evolve, these former Nvidia employees are not just leaving their jobs; they are paving the way for new innovations, driven by the opportunities that come with their newfound freedom.
