F1 reveals 2026 race calendar with 24 Grands Prix and a Madrid debut

Formula 1, in collaboration with the FIA, has unveiled the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship calendar, which features an ambitious schedule of 24 races spanning five continents. This marks a significant transition for the sport as it prepares for a new era focused on technical innovation and sustainability. The championship is set to kick off with the Australian Grand Prix from March 6 to 8, culminating in a spectacular finale in Abu Dhabi from December 4 to 6. Throughout the season, teams and drivers will adapt to new technical regulations and the introduction of 100% advanced sustainable fuels, highlighting F1's commitment to environmental responsibility and performance enhancement. Notably, the calendar sees the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix shifted to April to align with Ramadan, which occurs in February and March of that year. A key adjustment is the repositioning of the Canadian Grand Prix to May 22 to 24, allowing it to follow the Miami race and facilitating better logistics across North America. This change is part of a broader initiative to optimize the geographical flow of races, reducing both environmental impact and operational challenges. The summer segment of the calendar begins in Monaco from June 5-7 and concludes in Madrid from September 11-13, marking the first Formula 1 Grand Prix in the Spanish capital, pending final circuit approval. This race replaces one traditionally held in Barcelona, representing a historic moment for motorsport enthusiasts in Spain. Following the Madrid Grand Prix, the season continues with races in Azerbaijan, Singapore, and a series of three consecutive events in North America, concluding with races in Las Vegas, Qatar, and the season finale in Abu Dhabi. The announcement of the calendar comes shortly after the FIA's release of the 2026 technical regulations, which will usher in lighter, more agile cars equipped with active aerodynamics, giving fans and teams insight into the future of Formula 1. Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "2026 will mark a transformative era for Formula 1, featuring a new set of regulations and cars powered entirely by sustainable fuel. We are thrilled to welcome Madrid to the calendar and to see major automotive brands like Audi, Cadillac, and Ford joining the grid. It promises to be an unforgettable season, showcasing the best drivers in the world at 24 remarkable venues globally." He also extended gratitude to the fans and all involved in making the schedule possible, anticipating another historic year for the sport.
