Figma CEO says AI is not coming for your job and that his company is hiring across departments

In a recent podcast appearance, Figma's CEO Dylan Field reassured listeners that artificial intelligence isn't a threat to their jobs. He expressed optimism, stating, "It’s pretty encouraging that folks understand, viscerally, that this is not coming for you." Field referenced a survey conducted by Figma in September, which involved 1,199 participants, including designers, product managers, and marketers. The findings revealed that nearly 60% of product builders reported spending more time on valuable work due to AI, with around 70% feeling they have become "more productive or efficient overall." Rather than fear the rise of AI, Field encouraged workers to focus on adapting to the evolving landscape of technology. He noted that the San Francisco-based company, which specializes in tools for designing websites and apps, is actively hiring across various departments. Since its public offering in July, Figma has experienced significant growth, boasting a market capitalization nearing $30 billion and over 1,600 employees. While the company is investigating how AI can enhance efficiency and reduce costs, Field emphasized the importance of using AI to unlock new growth opportunities. He remarked, "You can see it as a path for you to learn and grow, and explore the world and human consciousness." This isn't the first time Field has spoken on the subject; he previously highlighted that AI is meant to augment human labor, not replace it. He stated, "There’s a need for designers to lead the charge, and AI will only get you so far. But the drudgery—how do we remove that from the design process? How do we give more access to more people?"
