Fig Security, a promising startup founded by veterans from Israel's elite cyber and data intelligence units, has emerged from stealth mode announcing it has raised $38 million in seed and Series A funding. The company aims to enhance the detection and response capabilities of security teams amidst the increasingly complex enterprise tech landscape. In today's digital environment, organizations are overwhelmed by a multitude of interconnected tools that can fail in unpredictable ways. This complexity makes it vital for security teams to proactively monitor their systems rather than waiting for a breach to occur. Fig Security addresses this need by providing a platform that tracks data flows across the security stack, from the source through various pipelines to orchestration and automation platforms. The technology behind Fig allows organizations to understand how changes within their security tools may disrupt detection or response capabilities. Gal Shafir, CEO and co-founder of Fig, emphasized the importance of focusing on detection as a source of truth. The platform back-traces data health, ensuring that any inconsistencies are flagged in real time, thereby helping security teams maintain robust defenses. By sampling data as it traverses through various tools, Fig creates a comprehensive “data lineage” to identify how upstream changes can impact security measures downstream. This feature is crucial as businesses increasingly adopt AI-powered tools to improve efficiency and reduce errors, while simultaneously grappling with the complexities introduced by these technologies. Shafir, who previously led Google Cloud Security’s global architecture team, shared insights from his interactions with Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs), many of whom expressed skepticism about trusting their detection systems. This feedback highlighted the urgent need for a solution to the prevalent uncertainty in security contexts, prompting Shafir and his co-founders to establish Fig. In just eight months since its inception, Fig has garnered significant interest from large enterprises and is projecting substantial growth in its customer base. With this latest funding round, the startup plans to expand its operations in North America and significantly increase its workforce in engineering and sales. Notable investors include Team8 and Ten Eleven Ventures, along with prominent figures from the cybersecurity sector.
