The agency's director was removed shortly after taking office for allegedly resisting pressure to endorse vaccine recommendations from a panel of skeptics, led by anti-vaccine advocate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. While the CDC struggles, the FDA's credibility is under scrutiny. Many are questioning whether the agency can effectively oversee the safety and modernization of America's medical treatments. Much of the controversy centers around Vinay Prasad, the FDA's leading vaccine regulator, who holds multiple titles within the agency.
