Nyne, founded by a father-son duo, gives AI agents the human context they’re missing

As the landscape of artificial intelligence evolves, the demand for AI agents capable of making autonomous purchasing and scheduling decisions is on the rise. However, Michael Fanous, a computer science graduate from UC Berkeley and former machine learning engineer, identifies a significant gap in their capabilities: a lack of comprehensive human context. Currently, AI systems struggle to connect the dots between a person’s LinkedIn profile, Instagram activity, and public records, often failing to recognize that all these data points belong to the same individual. To bridge this gap, Michael partnered with his father, Emad Fanous, an experienced Chief Technology Officer, to establish Nyne. This startup aims to serve as the intelligence layer that enables AI agents to interpret human behavior across various digital platforms. On Friday, Nyne announced a successful fundraising round of $5.3 million in seed capital, spearheaded by Wischoff Ventures and South Park Commons, along with contributions from several angel investors, including Gil Elbaz, co-founder of Applied Semantics and a pioneer of Google AdSense. While some might believe this challenge has been addressed by traditional machine learning techniques, Michael asserts that it remains a complex issue. He explains that the effectiveness of Google’s ad targeting stems from its unique access to user data, a resource the tech giant is unlikely to share with third-party agents. Nichole Wischoff, founder of Wischoff Ventures, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the complexity of the problem for those without Google’s data advantages. Nyne’s approach involves deploying millions of agents to analyze public digital footprints, using machine learning to synthesize this information. By examining user activities across major social networks and various applications, Nyne can construct a detailed profile of individuals. As AI agents become more prevalent in consumer-facing businesses, Nyne is poised to enhance their understanding of both current and prospective customers. "I can provide any necessary information about a person to facilitate informed decision-making," Michael stated. He emphasized that creating connections across different data sources allows for a deep understanding of a person's interests and thought processes. Wischoff also noted the substantial market potential for this data, which is crucial for companies utilizing AI agents in customer outreach. "How can I identify a pregnancy to market specific products effectively?" she questioned, indicating the value of such insights. While previous generations of advertising technology companies have gathered some of this data, Nyne aims to do so with unprecedented accuracy. Regarding the dynamics of their partnership, Michael expressed confidence in working alongside his father. "Having co-founders can sometimes lead to easy exits when challenges arise. But if I need to reach out at three in the morning for a launch, I know our bond remains strong," he concluded.
