Debris from aerial interception strikes Oracle building in Dubai, UAE says

In a significant incident linked to escalating regional tensions, the Dubai office of Oracle sustained damage from debris that fell as a result of an aerial interception. According to the Dubai Media Office, this minor event occurred amid Iran's ongoing missile strikes targeting various locations across the Middle East in retaliation for actions taken by the U.S. and Israel. Authorities confirmed the incident, stating that no injuries were reported. The Dubai Media Office shared details on social media platform X, clarifying that the debris impacted the facade of the Oracle building located in Dubai Internet City. Oracle has yet to provide a public response to inquiries from various media outlets. Reports from a CNBC journalist on the ground indicated that multiple interceptions were heard throughout the night. Compounding the situation, Iran's Revolutionary Guard has issued threats aimed at a range of U.S. tech firms operating in the region, naming companies such as Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, and Google as potential targets. In a stark warning, they proclaimed that 18 tech entities would now be viewed as "legitimate targets" in response to the ongoing strikes from the U.S. and Israeli forces. The Guard’s statement, published on a Telegram channel affiliated with them, asserted, "From now on, for every assassination, an American company will be destroyed." This list of targeted companies also includes major players like Cisco, HP, Intel, IBM, Dell, Palantir, JPMorgan, Tesla, GE, Spire Solutions, Boeing, and the UAE-based AI firm G42. James Henderson, the CEO of risk management company Healix, emphasized that these threats mark a troubling trend, indicating that tech assets are increasingly seen as integral to the conflict rather than merely peripheral. He warned that future crises might specifically target data centers and cloud platforms, in addition to traditional strategic sites. Notably, Iranian forces had previously attacked Amazon Web Services data centers in the region earlier this year, resulting in outages for numerous applications and digital services across the UAE.
