In our latest exploration of the used electric vehicle (EV) market, we expand our budget to $15,000, revealing a wealth of promising options. Previously, we examined choices for under $10,000, identifying the BMW i3 and Chevrolet Bolt as standout models. Now, with a slightly larger budget, the landscape becomes even more enticing. With an additional $5,000, buyers can access newer model years and vehicles with lower mileage. This means you can snag a facelifted version of the BMW i3, which has seen enhancements since 2018, including a larger battery capacity. This upgrade allows for an impressive range of up to 114 miles (183 km) on a full charge, and even 150 miles (241 km) if you opt for the model equipped with a two-cylinder range-extender engine. Additionally, many of these i3 units come with integrated Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, enhancing connectivity on the road. The Chevrolet Bolt continues to be a strong contender in this price range, with models available both pre- and post-facelift (2022 and onwards). While the selection may include fewer of the more spacious Bolt EUVs, buyers can still expect to find low-mileage options. However, it’s important to be aware of common drawbacks, such as slower DC charging capabilities and the potential discomfort of the seats during longer journeys. Overall, this expanded budget opens up a variety of reliable and efficient EVs for those looking to enter the electric vehicle market affordably.
