Google is venturing deeper into the realm of artificial intelligence with the launch of its innovative app, Doppl, which allows users to virtually try on clothing before making a purchase. This experimental application is part of Google Labs, the division dedicated to testing new features that may eventually be integrated into mainstream applications. Doppl enhances Google Shopping's capabilities, first introduced in May, by offering a streamlined and dedicated platform for users. With Doppl, individuals can upload images or screenshots of outfits they are interested in and immediately see how those clothes would look on them. The app generates a digital, animated avatar of the user to provide a realistic preview of the chosen outfit. In a blog post, Google highlighted a unique feature of Doppl: the ability to create an AI-generated video that gives users a comprehensive overview of their selected outfits, making the virtual try-on experience even more lifelike. Users can take a picture of an outfit they admire, whether it's from a friend, a thrift store, or social media, and upload it to Doppl to visualize how it might look on them. The app also allows users to save and share their favorite looks with friends and followers. However, Google has cautioned that Doppl is still in its early stages and may not always provide accurate fit or appearance details. Users can easily access the app by downloading it from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. Once installed, they will be prompted to sign in with their Google account and upload a full-body image along with the outfit they wish to try on.
