The Slate Truck’s price may have leaked, starts at $24,950

The highly anticipated electric pickup truck, the Blank Slate, is set to make its official debut next week. Designed by Slate Auto, this innovative vehicle aims to simplify electric driving by offering a no-frills approach, even making features like electric windows optional. Pricing plays a pivotal role in the appeal of this truck. With a compact design and the absence of an infotainment system or built-in modem, it's clear that Slate is targeting consumers looking for an affordable electric vehicle. However, its modest range of 150 miles (241 km) could deter potential buyers if the price isn't right. Initially, Slate had aimed for a price around $20,000 when it entered the market in 2025, banking on the continued availability of the $7,500 IRS clean vehicle tax credit. However, that credit was eliminated later that year. Recently, a leak from the Slate website suggested that the starting price for the standard range model will be set at $24,950. This information was briefly available, leading to screenshots being shared across forums. Additionally, updates indicated a reduction in the power of the rear-wheel electric motor, now rated at 181 hp (135 kW) instead of the previously announced 201 hp (150 kW). However, towing capacity has seen a notable increase, with the truck able to tow up to 2,000 lbs (907 kg). While the leaked pricing and specifications have since been removed from the website, official details—including final pricing and a first-ride review—are expected to be unveiled on June 24.
