Sony has unveiled an exciting array of games set to enhance the PlayStation Plus Game Catalogue this August, with the highly anticipated Mortal Kombat 1 taking center stage. Alongside this iconic title, players can look forward to Marvel’s Spider-Man, Sword of the Sea, and several other releases for both PS4 and PS5. Starting from August 19, these new games will be accessible to PlayStation Plus Extra and Deluxe/Premium members. Among the noteworthy additions, two classic Resident Evil titles will also be included in the Classics Catalogue for those subscribed to higher tiers. Mortal Kombat 1 marks a significant reboot for the beloved fighting franchise, establishing a new narrative timeline following the events of Mortal Kombat 11. In this iteration, Fire God Liu Kang reimagines the universe and gathers a fresh roster of fighters for an intense tournament. The game retains its signature fatalities while introducing new mechanics and stunning visual upgrades. Notably, it will be available exclusively to PS5 users within the Game Catalogue. Another standout title, Marvel’s Spider-Man, brings players into the heart of New York City as they navigate the life of the iconic superhero. The remastered version for PS5 boasts enhanced graphics and operates as a native application, while a PS4 version will also be accessible. Gamers will encounter various familiar adversaries, including Dr. Octopus, Scorpion, and Vulture, in an expansive open-world environment. Sword of the Sea, developed by Giant Squid, also joins the line-up as a day-one release for PS5. This unique game invites players to explore vast landscapes both above and below water on a surfboard-like sword, as they gather Ocean Seeds to rejuvenate the environment and unlock new areas for adventure. Additionally, Classic Catalogue members can enjoy Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis on both PS4 and PS5. For Deluxe/Premium subscribers, a five-hour trial of the much-anticipated Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will also be available, offering a glimpse into the future of this intriguing title.
