iOS 26.2 beta adds new Liquid Glass customization, alarms in the Reminders app, and more

Apple has unveiled the first beta of iOS 26.2, packed with a range of exciting new features aimed at enhancing user experience. Among the most notable additions is the ability to customize the Liquid Glass appearance of the Lock Screen clock on iPhones. Users can now adjust the clock's opacity through a new slider, allowing for a fully transparent display or a frosted look, while also retaining the option to disable Liquid Glass entirely. Additionally, the update introduces a much-anticipated feature in the Reminders app: the ability to set alarms for specific reminders. By selecting a time and activating the 'Urgent' option, users can ensure they receive timely alerts, helping them stay organized and on top of important tasks. Another significant enhancement is the expansion of live translation capabilities on AirPods for users in the European Union. Following its initial rollout in the United States and select regions with iOS 26, this feature allows Siri to translate conversations in real-time, marking an important step in meeting the EU's regulatory requirements. The Apple News app is also seeing improvements, including a new 'Following' tab in the navigation bar that allows users to easily access their favorite stories and topics. This feature will streamline user navigation through categories like Food, Politics, and Sports. In addition, Apple Podcasts is set to receive innovative updates such as AI-generated chapter markers for episodes and a Podcast Mentions feature, which will link to referenced shows within episode descriptions. Other enhancements include offline lyric support in Apple Music, allowing users to view song lyrics without needing an internet connection, and a new notification feature that makes the iPhone screen flash when alerts are received, all configurable through the Accessibility settings. The public release of iOS 26.2 is anticipated to drop in December, bringing these exciting features to a wider audience.
