EssilorLuxottica has announced a remarkable increase in its sales of Meta AI glasses, revealing that sales more than tripled in 2025. The renowned eyewear manufacturer, known for its Ray-Ban brand, disclosed this significant milestone in its fourth-quarter financial results released on Wednesday. The company reported selling over 7 million units of AI glasses last year, a striking rise from the combined 2 million sold in 2023 and 2024. This impressive figure includes smart glasses from both the Ray-Ban and Oakley brands, with the latter making its debut in June. This surge in sales underscores the growing consumer interest in wearable AI technology. In a company statement, EssilorLuxottica noted, "Our success in wearables is helping to propel the AI-glasses revolution, with our iconic brands being a powerful driver of demand." The collaboration with Meta has been ongoing since 2019, leading to the launch of the first generation of these smart glasses in September 2021. However, it wasn't until the second-generation launch in 2023 that the product gained significant traction in the market. In September, the companies introduced a new iteration of Ray-Ban glasses that can be controlled through hand gestures and neural technology, priced at $799 and featuring a display embedded in one lens. Meta has shown a strong commitment to this partnership, extending a long-term agreement to continue their collaboration into the next decade. Recently, discussions have taken place regarding a potential increase in production to meet the surging demand, with plans to double output to at least 20 million units by the end of this year.
