WithSkigill, the classic RPG skill tree becomes a crowded battlefield

In the world of role-playing games (RPGs), skill trees are typically seen as a momentary respite from the action. Players pause to explore a plethora of upgrade options, contemplating the best enhancements for their characters. However, indie developer Achromi has flipped this concept on its head with their upcoming title, Skigill. Set to launch in Early Access on October 31, 2025, for Windows, Mac, and Linux, this game transforms the skill tree into an active battleground that keeps players on their toes. With a gameplay style reminiscent of Vampire Survivors, Skigill immerses players in a relentless onslaught of enemies that converge on their position. The game’s mechanics automatically target adversaries and unleash weaponry, creating a pathway through the chaos. As foes burst into clouds of yellow smoke, they drop coins that players can collect to enhance their abilities. What distinguishes Skigill from traditional RPGs is its continuous action during skill upgrades. Players must navigate to various icons representing stat enhancements while under constant threat, adding an exhilarating layer of challenge to the experience. Although Skigill is currently in Early Access and may not yet offer extensive content, its innovative approach and engaging gameplay make it a noteworthy addition to the genre. With each session, the game challenges players to balance their desire for upgrades with the urgency of survival, ensuring that it remains an addictive experience.
