Just 8 months in, India’s vibe-coding startup Emergent claims ARR of over $100M

Emergent, a cutting-edge vibe-coding platform based in India, has made headlines by achieving an astonishing annual run-rate revenue of over $100 million just eight months after its launch. This remarkable growth can be attributed to the rising demand from small businesses and individuals without technical backgrounds. In a recent announcement, the startup revealed that it doubled its revenue within a month, currently boasting over 6 million users across 190 nations, including approximately 150,000 paying customers. Users have harnessed the platform to create more than 7 million applications, with nearly 40% of its clientele being small enterprises and around 70% possessing no previous coding experience. According to co-founder and CEO Mukund Jha, Emergent's platform primarily assists users in transitioning from traditional methods like spreadsheets and emails to more efficient digital operations. The surge in interest in vibe-coding—using AI to facilitate software development—has significantly contributed to Emergent's rapid expansion, particularly among non-technical users eager to produce working applications with natural language and AI tools. Emergent competes with various other platforms, including Replit and Lovable, but distinguishes itself by focusing on business applications such as custom CRMs, ERPs, and logistics management tools. Notably, 80% to 90% of new projects are centered on mobile app development, highlighting a crucial demand for software that is quick to deploy and user-friendly on mobile devices. The startup's revenue model combines subscriptions, usage-based fees, and deployment costs, all of which are experiencing rapid growth, with the company's gross margins improving monthly. "Growth is accelerating," Jha shared, noting that as models and platforms evolve, user success rates are climbing. While the current user base is largely composed of consumers and small businesses, Emergent has begun exploring enterprise solutions, conducting pilot tests with select customers to refine its offerings in terms of security and compliance. Notably, the U.S. and Europe contribute to about 70% of Emergent's revenue, but India is emerging as a vital and rapidly expanding market, aided by local pricing strategies that resonate with small businesses. The startup also introduced a mobile app for iOS and Android, enabling users to create and publish applications directly to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Currently in testing, this app has already facilitated the creation of over 10,000 applications. This innovative mobile solution allows users to input commands or interact with AI via voice, streamlining the app-building process. Users can seamlessly transition between the mobile and desktop versions of the platform without losing progress, showcasing the platform’s flexible, asynchronous workflow design. As more users gravitate towards mobile access, this native app launch represents a strategic advancement for Emergent. Founded in San Francisco with an office in Bengaluru, Emergent gained significant traction earlier this year after securing $70 million in a funding round led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2 and Khosla Ventures, following a $23 million Series A round. This financing tripled the company’s valuation to an impressive $300 million.
