One quality will be most in-demand from job-seekers in the AI era, Animoca co-founder Siu says

According to Yat Siu, co-founder of Animoca Brands, the rise of artificial intelligence is poised to significantly alter the job landscape, ultimately fostering an environment where creativity is more prized than ever. Speaking at the SuperAI conference in Singapore, Siu emphasized that while AI may disrupt traditional job roles, it will also lead to the creation of new opportunities. Siu expressed concern about the tendency for individuals to suppress their innate creativity to conform to conventional work systems. He stated, "We're born creative, and we're losing our creativity to fit into a system because we're trying to be turned into machines." However, he remains optimistic, suggesting that as machines take on routine tasks, humans can reclaim their creative potential. "Machines can handle the workload, allowing us to truly embrace our human qualities," he remarked. Since its founding in 2014, Animoca has expanded to include over 600 companies across various sectors such as gaming, decentralized finance, and real-world assets. Siu believes that AI will generate a multitude of new jobs, despite the inevitable disruptions. He pointed out that AI's ability to code could eventually outstrip human capabilities, leading to a shift in the necessary skills for workers. "The superpower of an AI is that it can code everything," he noted, suggesting that the focus will need to shift towards creativity and coordination. In response to concerns raised by Anthropic regarding the potential risks associated with AI, Siu stated that he remains on the optimistic side of the debate. He believes that the majority will utilize AI for positive outcomes, although he acknowledged that a small minority may misuse the technology. "There'll be a few people that will do bad things; they would have to be stopped, but... this, to me, doesn't feel like it's a nuclear arms race," he concluded.
