I joined a company with an AI mandate. I was daunted at first, but I've saved hours by solving a big, boring problem.

After joining Mighty Bear Games, an independent gaming studio with a strong AI focus, I initially found the shift to using AI tools overwhelming. However, 20 months later, I've discovered that leveraging AI has significantly increased my productivity, freeing me from tedious tasks like invoicing and reporting. My journey into the world of marketing began unexpectedly when the pandemic halted my acting career. I transitioned into marketing, assisting theaters with their promotional efforts while also diving into the realms of cryptocurrencies and NFTs. My passion for cryptogaming grew, leading to my connection with Simon Davis, co-founder of Mighty Bear Games. Excited by the potential of AI in gaming, I joined the company in March 2024 as head of growth, tasked with user acquisition and marketing strategies. The company's mandate to utilize AI for half of our output pushed me to step out of my comfort zone. Initially intimidated, I gradually embraced tools like Claude Code and Lindy, which helped automate workflows and streamline my responsibilities. I found that I could now dedicate time to market research instead of getting bogged down in repetitive tasks. One significant change was automating my daily news aggregation related to gaming and AI. This not only saved me an hour a day but also provided me with concise summaries of important developments. Additionally, I developed a 'sentiment scraper' to analyze public perceptions of Telegram, enhancing our marketing efforts without relying on manual data collection. While I recognize that AI has its limitations, I remain optimistic about its potential. I've learned that AI can enhance my work without replacing the creativity and expertise required in marketing. It's essential to maintain a balance; for instance, when writing, I use AI to refine my ideas rather than completely relying on it. In my personal life, AI has also become a valuable tool, helping me plan romantic outings and providing stock trading advice. Overall, the integration of AI into my daily routines has not only increased my efficiency but also allowed me to reclaim precious time for creative pursuits. Despite the challenges and occasional frustrations, I'm thrilled about the opportunities AI brings, unlocking new avenues for innovation and creativity in my work.
