A recent survey conducted by Quinnipiac University indicates a significant decline in Elon Musk's favorability ratings among Republican voters. Following his exit from an official position within the Trump administration, Musk's approval rating has dropped from 78% in March to 62% in the latest poll results, which were released on Wednesday. While a majority of Republicans still view Musk positively, the survey reveals a stark contrast in perceptions across party lines. Overall, only 30% of self-identified voters in the U.S. expressed a favorable opinion of Musk during polling conducted from June 5 to June 9. Among Democrats, support for Musk is alarmingly low, with merely 3% stating they hold a favorable view of the Tesla CEO, who once garnered attention for his environmentally-friendly initiatives. The decline in Musk's approval comes in the wake of a public feud with Trump, which escalated over differing views on the president's spending bill. Musk later expressed regret regarding some of his social media comments about Trump, suggesting that his remarks may have exceeded appropriate bounds. Despite the drop in favorability, Musk remains a popular figure among Republican respondents. In the same early June poll, a remarkable 80% rated his work with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) as either excellent or good. This is a slight decrease from March, where 82% of Republicans believed Musk's contributions were beneficial to the country. The survey results highlight the ongoing divisions within the political landscape and Musk's fluctuating status among his supporters. As the world continues to watch the developments in both Musk's and Trump's political journeys, the implications of this survey may resonate well beyond the immediate political arena.
