In a recent live discussion, X owner Elon Musk revealed that the platform intends to implement advertisements within the responses generated by its AI chatbot, Grok. This strategic decision aims to revitalize X's advertising sector, which has faced challenges following the exit of former CEO Linda Yaccarino. Musk emphasized the company's commitment to enhancing Grok's capabilities, stating, "Our focus thus far has just been on making Grok the smartest, most accurate AI in the world, and I think we’ve largely succeeded in that." He acknowledged the need to find sustainable funding for the costly GPUs that power the AI. During the conversation, Musk explained how advertisers would have the opportunity to feature their products or services in Grok’s suggestions. He noted, “If a user’s trying to solve a problem [by asking Grok], then advertising the specific solution would be ideal at that point.” This approach is anticipated to create a more targeted advertising experience for users. Additionally, Musk plans to leverage technology from xAI, his AI startup, to enhance ad targeting on the platform. Earlier this year, xAI acquired X for a staggering $45 billion, further solidifying Musk's vision for integrating advanced AI capabilities into social media advertising.
