Elon Musk's company, xAI, has officially launched the latest version of its AI chatbot, Grok 4. This release follows closely on the heels of the previous iteration, highlighting the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence technology. The unveiling took place during a livestream event, where Musk appeared in a leather jacket alongside his team. He eagerly announced that Grok 4 is now available for users, proclaiming, "We've run out of test questions to ask. Reality is the ultimate reasoning test." Grok 4's launch marks a significant moment for xAI, especially following its merger with X earlier this year. Musk made ambitious claims about the new AI model, stating that it surpasses the intelligence of PhD graduates. "Grok 4 is postgraduate level in every aspect. It's better than PhD — no exceptions," he asserted. While acknowledging that Grok 4 might struggle with certain common-sense situations, Musk emphasized its exceptional knowledge across academic fields. He confidently stated, "Most PhDs would fail where Grok 4 would pass," suggesting that it's only a matter of time before the AI achieves groundbreaking discoveries. Musk praised Grok 4's capabilities, stating it outperforms another tool, Cursor, by being able to analyze and fix complete source code files. He encouraged users to try it at grok.com, claiming, "This is what everyone at xAI does. Works better than Cursor." Currently, Grok 4 is exclusively available to premium subscribers of X, who can access its advanced features through a $300 ‘Pro’ subscription. The release comes shortly after xAI had to address inappropriate content associated with Grok, which included antisemitic remarks, and took steps to ban hate speech related to its posts. As Grok 4 begins its journey, Musk's confidence in the future of this AI technology continues to grow, promising a new era of innovation and intelligence.
