‘We have improved Grok’: Elon Musk teases major AI upgrade on X

Elon Musk has revealed significant upgrades to his AI chatbot, Grok, as part of his ongoing efforts to confront perceived ideological biases in existing AI systems. In a recent post on X, Musk claimed, "We have improved @Grok significantly. You should notice a difference when you ask Grok questions." This update represents a crucial step in Musk's mission to establish Grok, created by his AI company xAI, as a viable alternative to popular tools like OpenAI's ChatGPT. Last month, Musk outlined plans to retrain Grok using a more refined and accurate version of human knowledge. This initiative is central to his broader aim of revising and upgrading the global knowledge base. In his post, he hinted that the upcoming major release of the chatbot, potentially named Grok 3.5 or Grok 4, will showcase enhanced cognitive capabilities. "We will use Grok 3.5 (maybe we should call it 4), which has advanced reasoning, to rewrite the entire corpus of human knowledge, adding missing information and deleting errors," he noted. Musk's vision revolves around creating an AI free from what he describes as the "mind virus," referring to the ideological slant he perceives in current AI models. To support this goal, he is inviting users to submit what he calls "divisive facts," which are claims that may be politically charged but, in Musk's view, are grounded in reality. Positioning xAI's Grok as a more transparent and candid alternative to other chatbots, Musk aims for it to adopt a bolder tone in its responses. With these latest enhancements, he is firmly committed to developing a radically different model of AI, one that he believes is more accurate and less influenced by societal or institutional biases.
