Elon Musk says Grok 4 is still smarter than GPT-5, vows Grok 5 will ‘crush’…

Following the launch of GPT-5, Elon Musk, CEO of xAI, took to social media to assert that his company's Grok 4 Heavy model continues to surpass OpenAI's latest offering. Musk, who introduced the Grok series just last month, confidently labeled Grok 4 Heavy as the "most intelligent model in the world". He emphasized, "Bottom line though: Grok 4 Heavy was smarter 2 weeks ago than GPT-5 is now and G4H is already a lot better," in a post on X (previously Twitter). Further supporting his claims, Musk highlighted that Grok 4 Thinking maintains a higher ranking than GPT-5 High on the ARC-AGI 2 leaderboard, a rigorous benchmark for assessing the abstract reasoning and problem-solving prowess of AI systems. He also shared exciting news: a new update for Grok's language model is expected before the year's end, alongside the launch of Grok Imagine, a video and image generator that will be accessible to all users. Musk teased that Grok 5 will be released by year-end, promising it will be "crushingly good." Additionally, he issued a warning to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, cautioning that OpenAI's advancements could significantly threaten Microsoft. In contrast, OpenAI presented its own perspective during a live-stream event, describing GPT-5 as a substantial upgrade over its predecessor. The new model boasts improvements in areas such as coding, mathematics, writing, health applications, and visual perception. OpenAI claims GPT-5 can generate apps, websites, and games in mere minutes with simple natural language prompts, minimizing the need for extensive coding skills. For the first time, GPT-5 includes the capability to select between reasoning or efficiency models depending on user queries. While the new AI model will initially be available for free with usage limitations, users will transition to a mini version of GPT-5 once they exceed their limit. OpenAI's Plus subscribers benefit from a higher usage cap, while Pro users gain access to the more advanced GPT-5 Pro model.
