Elon Musk is once again drawing attention to the capabilities of artificial intelligence, this time focusing on the predictive skills of the AI chatbot, Grok, from X. In a recent post on his official account, the tech mogul encouraged users to explore Grok's forecasting abilities through a live benchmarking platform. Musk tweeted, "Download the @Grok app and try Grok Expert mode. For serious predictions, Grok Heavy is the best." He emphasized that the capacity to foresee future events is the ultimate indicator of intelligence. The link shared by Musk directs users to FutureX, a platform created to assess how effectively large language models (LLMs) can predict real-world occurrences. FutureX, developed by Jiashuo Liu and his team, challenges AI agents with tasks that encompass a range of topics, including politics, economics, sports, and cultural trends. It provides real-time scoring of predictions and features a public leaderboard that enables users to monitor AI performance, promoting a spirit of competition. The platform's automated scoring system guarantees a consistent and unbiased evaluation of AI predictions. By promoting FutureX, Musk highlights that Grok transcends the role of a mere conversational AI; it is also a sophisticated tool with the potential to predict future events. He points out Grok's Expert and Heavy modes, suggesting that it merges advanced reasoning skills with predictive capabilities—qualities he believes represent the pinnacle of intelligence. Just last month, Musk announced the open-sourcing of Grok 2.5, the leading model from xAI, and revealed intentions to make Grok 3 available as open source within the next six months. Grok 3 was first introduced during a live-stream event in February. Musk has also mentioned plans to unveil Grok 5 by the year’s end, indicating continuous advancements in this innovative AI technology.
