ElevenLabs bags $500 million in funding, valuation bits $11 billion

ElevenLabs has successfully raised $500 million in a Series D funding round, spearheaded by Sequoia Capital. This substantial investment has propelled the AI startup's valuation to an impressive $11 billion, marking a remarkable threefold increase from just a year ago. With this latest funding, ElevenLabs has amassed a total of $781 million across five funding rounds since its inception in 2022. The company plans to utilize these funds to enhance and expand its innovative product, "ElevenAgents," designed to assist enterprises in developing interactive AI voice assistants. Notably, Sequoia's partner, Andrew Reed, will be joining the company’s board as a result of their significant investment. Further demonstrating investor confidence, A16Z has increased its backing by four times compared to its previous investment, while ICONIQ has tripled its commitment. Existing investors, including BroadLight, NFDG, Valour Capital, AMP Coalition, and Smash Capital, also participated in this funding round, reaffirming their support for ElevenLabs. New investors such as Lightspeed Venture Partners, Evantic Capital, and Bond have joined the funding round, although several other new investors remain undisclosed for now. ElevenLabs has hinted at announcing the names of these strategic partners later in February, fueling anticipation within the industry. The infusion of capital will also allow ElevenLabs to broaden its reach into international markets, targeting countries like India, Japan, Singapore, Brazil, and Mexico. Co-Founder Mati Staniszewski expressed the company’s ambition, stating, "This funding helps us go beyond voice alone to transform how we interact with technology altogether. We plan to expand our Creative offering—helping creators combine our best-in-class audio with video and Agents—enabling businesses to build agents that can talk, type, and take action." As ElevenLabs continues to grow, it is establishing itself as a major player in the AI landscape, comparable to the trajectories of OpenAI and Anthropic, albeit with a distinct focus on Audio-Native AI. The company may even be gearing up for an initial public offering (IPO) as early as late 2027, buoyed by its remarkable valuation.
