ElevenLabs releases a new AI-powered music generation app

ElevenLabs, a prominent player in voice AI technology, has unveiled a new iOS application named ElevenMusic, aimed at empowering users to create and explore AI-generated music. This initiative is seen as a strategic move to position the company beyond its established voice model offerings and compete with existing music platforms like Suno and Udio. Launched on April 1, the app allows users to generate up to seven songs daily through intuitive natural language prompts. It offers customizable features, enabling users to modify the length, add lyrics, and specify writing styles. Additionally, ElevenMusic fosters a community environment where users can discover and remix tracks created by others, counting these remixes toward their daily generation limit. The app boasts a variety of features, including live stations, curated albums, and daily mixes tailored to different moods such as Focus, Energy, and Chill. Mirroring popular streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music, ElevenMusic also features sections for top charts, trending songs, and new releases. For those seeking enhanced capabilities, ElevenLabs offers a Pro subscription at $9.99 per month or $95.90 annually. This tier grants users the ability to create up to 500 tracks each month and provides over 500 GB of storage, along with access to a wide array of styles and moods. With a significant $500 million raised in a Series C funding round at a valuation of $11 billion earlier this year, ElevenLabs continues to expand its portfolio of creative models and tools. Following the introduction of its first commercially safe music generation model last August, the company has collaborated with renowned music producers to release AI-assisted albums. Furthermore, ElevenLabs has developed a comprehensive suite of creative tools that encompass ad generation, voiceovers, translation, image generation, and video production. In addition to its existing consumer products, such as ElevenLabs voice generation and ElevenReader, the company has initiated a program designed to enable authors to earn royalties by converting and distributing their works via the ElevenReader platform. As ElevenLabs actively seeks to expand its music division, there are indications that it may introduce royalty incentives to encourage user-generated content on its platform.
