Einride, a trailblazer in autonomous electric freight trucking, is gearing up to enter the public market via a SPAC merger with Legato Merger Corp. III, a move that values the company at a remarkable $1.8 billion. This strategic partnership is projected to generate $219 million in gross proceeds, with an additional potential of $100 million from institutional investors, aiming for a debut on the New York Stock Exchange in the first half of 2026. Based in Stockholm, Sweden, Einride has established a robust annual recurring revenue base of $65 million, with aspirations for long-term revenue exceeding $800 million. Since its inception in 2016, the company has garnered over 25 clients across seven countries, holding regulatory permits in both the U.S. and Europe. Its fleet, comprising around 200 electric vehicles, serves notable clients including GE Appliances and Apotea, a Swedish online pharmacy. CEO Roozbeh Charli, who succeeded co-founder Robert Falck last May, described this moment as pivotal for Einride and the freight technology sector. "We have demonstrated that autonomous and electric operations are not just feasible, but advantageous. This transaction will enable us to accelerate our global expansion and enhance our service delivery for clients," Charli stated. Having been recognized on the CNBC Disruptor 50 list for three consecutive years, Einride ranked No. 24 in 2025. The freight trucking market, valued by Einride at $4.6 trillion, is characterized by its carbon-intensive and inefficient nature. The company’s innovative solutions aim to significantly reduce emissions while proving the economic viability of electric freight. Among its collaborations, PepsiCo has piloted Einride's freight solutions in markets such as Memphis, Tennessee, and Germany. Additionally, Heineken introduced electric freight routes between the Netherlands and Germany last year, expanding to Austria this year. Looking ahead, Einride plans to roll out 300 electric trucks across Europe by 2030, in partnership with Mars. Currently, Einride offers services for both driver-operated electric trucks and heavy-duty autonomous vehicles. Its technology is also available for licensing to third parties, including operational planning AI software and autonomous driving systems. Last May, the company signed a landmark agreement with DP World to implement the largest autonomous EV fleet in the Middle East at Jebel Ali port, one of the world’s busiest shipping hubs. While much of Einride's current operations focus on electric vehicles, the company has successfully conducted autonomous operations with GE Appliances and has initiated Europe's first daily autonomous freight trips with Apotea. The U.S. stands as Einride's second-largest market, with plans to further invest in enhancing its autonomous systems. To date, Einride has recorded over 1,700 hours of driverless operations, more than 11 million miles driven on electric vehicles, and over 350,000 completed shipments. Competing with other autonomous trucking innovators like Aurora Innovation and Waabi, Einride is poised to lead the charge in transforming the freight industry. Eric Rosenfeld, chief SPAC officer of Legato, expressed enthusiasm about the merger, noting it aligns with their vision of bringing cutting-edge technology to public markets.
