Epstein-linked longevity guru Peter Attia leaves David Protein, and his own startup ‘won’t comment’

Dr. Peter Attia, a prominent figure in longevity research, has announced his departure from his position as Chief Science Officer at David Protein, a company known for its high-protein nutrition bars. This decision follows the revelation of his name in over 1,700 documents linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, which were released last week, according to reports from The New York Times. Attia, who has gained recognition as a leader in preventive health and longevity, was not only part of David Protein's executive team but also an early investor in the startup. He is widely recognized for his bestselling book 'Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity' and his podcast, where he discusses strategies for health optimization. In a recent post on X, he expressed regret over the inappropriate nature of some correspondence with Epstein but firmly denied any involvement in criminal activities, stating he never visited Epstein’s private island or traveled on his aircraft. David Protein, based in New York, successfully raised $75 million in Series A funding in May 2022, with notable contributions from firms like Greenoaks and Valor Equity Partners. The company has seen remarkable growth since launching its flagship product, which boasts 28 grams of protein, zero sugar, and just 150 calories per bar. The implications of Attia's resignation seem to extend beyond David Protein. His involvement with Biograph, a healthcare testing and longevity startup he co-founded, appears to be in jeopardy as the company has not commented on his status. Furthermore, references to Attia have been removed from their website, raising questions about his ongoing connection to the venture. Biograph, which emerged from stealth mode last year, offers premium preventive health services, charging subscribers between $7,500 and $15,000 annually. Previously, Attia was recognized as a co-founder in company announcements and on its website.
