Dr. Oz tells his federal employees to eat less during the holidays

Dr. Mehmet Oz, the head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and former television personality, has been proactively engaging with his agency's federal employees by sharing weekly health tips aimed at navigating the holiday season. In his recent communications, Oz has focused on minimizing office snacking and making healthier food choices during festive gatherings. In his latest message, which is part of a recurring segment called "From the Administrator’s Desk," Oz acknowledges the excitement surrounding holiday celebrations and offers strategies for enjoying treats mindfully. He emphasizes the importance of setting personal limits, suggesting that employees decide beforehand how many indulgences they will allow themselves. Oz advises his team of over 6,000 to practice portion control and to savor their food. "Eat off a small plate when possible and take smaller portions of treats to fully enjoy them without overeating," he recommends. He also encourages employees to eat slowly and to be aware of their body's signals regarding hunger and fullness. Additionally, Oz suggests avoiding the habit of holding multiple food and drink items at once. This not only helps with mindful eating but also leaves one hand free for social interactions during the holiday season. His guidance has been part of his ongoing communications since early November. While Dr. Oz has faced scrutiny in the past for promoting various weight loss solutions that lacked scientific backing, his current focus appears to be on fostering a healthier workplace environment amid the holiday festivities.
