Disney+ has officially introduced HDR10+ streaming capabilities, enhancing its catalog of movies and shows. This new format, however, is currently limited to select content from Hulu, which was acquired by The Walt Disney Company in June. In a recent announcement, Samsung revealed that more than 1,000 titles from Hulu are now available in HDR10+. The tech giant also indicated that additional Disney+ content will be compatible with HDR10+ in the near future. Previously, Disney+ only supported HDR10 and Dolby Vision formats, but this new addition marks a significant upgrade. Samsung TVs will be the first devices to support HDR10+ streaming from Disney+. According to the announcement, models such as the Samsung Crystal UHD TVs and newer OLED, The Frame, QLED, and Micro RGB TVs from 2018 onwards are equipped for this feature. The Disney+ app on Apple’s tvOS platform has also been noted to list HDR10+ support. Hulu began offering select content in HDR formats, including HDR10 and Dolby Vision, back in 2021. With Disney's acquisition of Hulu and the integration of both services into a unified app, Disney+ can now provide a limited selection of titles in HDR10+. This update is particularly beneficial for Samsung TV owners, as these models do not support Dolby Vision. By incorporating HDR10+, Disney+ aims to attract home theater enthusiasts who favor Samsung, the leading television brand worldwide.
