In a move that will impact many viewers, Disney has announced another increase in subscription prices for both Disney+ and Hulu, effective October 21. The standalone Disney+ plan featuring ads will see a $2 hike, bringing it to $11.99 per month. For those opting for the ad-free Disney+ Premium plan, the cost will rise by $3 to reach $18.99 monthly. Furthermore, the annual subscription for Disney+ Premium will increase by $30, totaling $189.99. Hulu users will also feel the pinch, as the ad-supported standalone plan will jump from $9.99 to $11.99 per month. However, the premium version of Hulu, which offers no advertisements, will maintain its price at $18.99 monthly. Additionally, the price for ESPN Select is rising from $11.99 to $12.99 per month. Bundles will see their prices adjusted as well; the Disney+ and Hulu bundle with ads will increase by $2 to $12.99, while the combined Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN Select bundle will rise by $3, now costing $19.99 monthly. A detailed breakdown of all upcoming price changes can be accessed on the company's support page. This announcement comes at a challenging time for Disney+, as the platform experienced a significant wave of subscription cancellations last week. Many subscribers expressed their dissatisfaction following Disney's controversial decision to temporarily remove Jimmy Kimmel from its programming lineup. Since its launch in 2019, which began with a $6.99 monthly fee, Disney+ has frequently adjusted its pricing, following trends set by other streaming platforms. The last price adjustment occurred in October 2024, when the ad-free plan was raised from $15.99 to $18.99, and the ad-supported plan moved from $7.99 to $9.99.
