Former Trump advisor Dina Powell McCormick leaves Meta board after eight-month stint

Dina Powell McCormick, a former advisor to President Donald Trump, has officially resigned from the board of directors at Meta after an eight-month period. Her resignation was communicated to the company on Friday, as revealed in a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The filing did not specify the reasons for her departure, but it stated that her resignation is effective immediately. According to a source familiar with the situation, Meta does not intend to fill her position on the board. While there are discussions about Powell McCormick potentially taking on a strategic advisory role with Meta, no decisions have been finalized yet. She joined the board in April alongside Stripe’s co-founder and CEO, Patrick Collison. At that time, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg praised their extensive experience in supporting businesses and entrepreneurs. In her previous roles, Powell McCormick served as a deputy national security advisor under Trump and was an assistant secretary of state during George W. Bush's presidency. She is married to Senator Dave McCormick, a Republican from Pennsylvania, who began his term earlier this year. Currently, after her exit, Meta's board now consists of 14 members, which includes notable figures such as UFC CEO Dana White and Broadcom CEO Hock Tan.
