Delhi school teachers to undergo hands-on AI training

Teachers in Delhi are preparing to receive hands-on training focused on integrating artificial intelligence tools into their classrooms. This initiative is designed to enable educators to personalize learning experiences and enhance the significance of assessments. According to a recent announcement from the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), the program's goal is to equip teachers with essential knowledge and skills, allowing them to effectively implement AI for personalized instruction and innovative teaching methods. Fifty government schools across Delhi have been selected for this initiative, with two computer teachers from each school randomly chosen for the training. This program will also assist teachers in managing non-teaching responsibilities, such as creating presentations, generating ideas for extracurricular activities, and editing images, as reported by news agency PTI. The initial phase of the training will involve 100 computer science teachers from the selected schools, participating in a two-day session scheduled for October 8 and 9. Once trained, these educators will become master trainers, tasked with guiding their peers in the effective use of AI tools. The second phase will extend the training to teachers of Mathematics, Science, English, Hindi, and Social Science for students in Classes 6 to 9. Each school will nominate three teachers from these subjects, totaling 15 educators per school for this round of training. SCERT emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader vision to create future-ready classrooms and promote the use of AI in education. The program is expected to empower teachers to adopt innovative teaching strategies, boost classroom engagement, and ultimately improve learning outcomes through AI-based practices. Follow-up sessions will be conducted to gather feedback and assess the effectiveness of the tools used by teachers.
