Germany's DeepL says latest Nvidia chips allow translation of whole internet in 18 days vs.194 before

DeepL has announced a groundbreaking advancement in translation technology, revealing that it can now translate the entire internet in a mere 18 days, a significant reduction from the previous estimate of 194 days. This leap is made possible by the deployment of one of Nvidia's latest systems, showcasing how innovative startups are harnessing high-performance hardware to push the boundaries of artificial intelligence applications. As a startup that competes with major players like Google Translate, DeepL is making strides with its proprietary AI models. The Cologne-based company is integrating the Nvidia DGX SuperPOD system into its operations. Each server rack in this advanced setup houses 36 B200 Grace Blackwell Superchips, which are essential for training and executing massive AI models. Stefan Mesken, DeepL's chief scientist, highlighted the importance of this upgrade, stating that it provides researchers with enhanced computational power to develop more sophisticated models. He emphasized that this new infrastructure will significantly improve existing products, such as Clarify, which was launched earlier this year. Clarify offers users interactive questioning to ensure context is accurately reflected in translations. Mesken noted that the recent technological advancements have made such enhancements possible, indicating a promising future for AI development at DeepL. The company continues to seek innovative solutions that will further refine its translation capabilities, illustrating the potential impact of cutting-edge technology on the industry.
