David Sacks says his time as Trump's crypto and AI czar has ended

David Sacks, the venture capitalist, is concluding his tenure as the artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency advisor for former President Donald Trump. In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Sacks announced that he has completed his 130-day term as a special government employee and is now set to join the President's Council of Advisers on Science & Technology (PCAST). Sacks expressed his enthusiasm for this new role, stating, "As co-chair of PCAST, I can now provide recommendations across a broader spectrum of technology topics beyond just AI." PCAST is a federal advisory body comprised of external experts from industry and academia, tasked with delivering evidence-based advice to the president on matters of technology, scientific research, and innovation policy. Having been a significant figure in the White House during Trump’s second term, Sacks was a key advisor with direct access to the president. He reiterated his commitment to advancing Trump's recently unveiled AI framework, emphasizing that he will continue to advocate for its implementation. In the past, Sacks highlighted the administration's intentions to simplify permitting processes and enhance power generation for companies. The overarching goal is to enable swift infrastructure development while keeping residential electricity costs stable. Notably, a memo from last March disclosed that Sacks had divested over $200 million in investments linked to digital assets.
