Datadog's stock soars 20% on revenue beat, strong forecast

Datadog's shares experienced a significant surge of 20% on Thursday after the company announced third-quarter earnings that exceeded Wall Street's expectations. The cloud software provider reported a revenue of $885.7 million, marking a 28% year-over-year increase, and surpassing the anticipated $852.8 million forecasted by LSEG analysts. Looking ahead, Datadog has set ambitious targets for the fourth quarter, projecting revenues between $912 million and $916 million—well above Wall Street's estimate of $887 million. This optimistic outlook comes amid a growing demand for AI-driven cloud security solutions, prompting Datadog to roll out various new AI technologies and security features over the past year. CEO Olivier Pomel highlighted the company’s rapid innovation, stating, "The Datadog R&D team is innovating rapidly to help our customers solve problems in the AI space." Notably, the company introduced Bits AI Agents for SRE in June, an AI assistant designed to promptly respond to alerts and generate incident updates. Additionally, Datadog has enhanced its LLM Observability suite with features like agentic AI monitoring and expanded capabilities for LLM experimentation. In June, Datadog also unveiled its MCP Server, which facilitates the connection between AI agents and data sources, alongside its foundational model, TOTO. The company reported adjusted earnings per share of 55 cents, exceeding FactSet's analyst expectations of 45 cents. Furthermore, the number of customers generating at least $100,000 in annual recurring revenue increased by 16% during the quarter. Datadog's net income stood at $33.9 million, or 10 cents per share, compared to $51.7 million, or 14 cents per share, from the previous year.
