LinkedIn gets a new CEO: Know how Dan Shapero’s leadership will come to play

Microsoft has officially announced the appointment of Dan Shapero as the new Chief Executive Officer of LinkedIn, succeeding Ryan Roslansky, who has been at the helm since 2020. Roslansky is transitioning to new responsibilities within Microsoft's Office division, having taken on that role last year. Shapero, who previously served as LinkedIn’s Chief Operating Officer, brings a wealth of experience to his new position. He joined LinkedIn in 2008 as the general manager of the Research Network. His leadership begins immediately, with Shapero reporting directly to Roslansky. This leadership change reflects LinkedIn's commitment to remain a key player in an increasingly AI-driven workplace. In a post shared on LinkedIn, Shapero emphasized the critical role that economic opportunity and the platform's promise play in today's evolving job landscape. He stated, "As I step into this role, I’ll start by learning and listening… connecting with our team, members, creators, and customers, each of whom makes LinkedIn the platform that helps create economic opportunity." In addition to Shapero’s appointment, LinkedIn has named Mohak Shroff as the President of Platforms & Digital Work, who will also report to Roslansky. Shroff will oversee innovation and technology strategy for LinkedIn, aligning with Microsoft’s broader vision for the future of work. These leadership changes come on the heels of LinkedIn achieving a remarkable milestone, surpassing $5 billion in quarterly revenue, which translates to an impressive $20 billion annual run rate. In a statement, Roslansky praised Shapero's extensive experience in sales, marketing, and product management, highlighting his deep understanding of LinkedIn's members and customers. With Shapero at the forefront, Roslansky can now concentrate on a wider array of responsibilities within Microsoft.
