AI coding startup Cursor is hiring for 200 roles in one region

Cursor, an innovative AI coding startup that recently secured a significant partnership with SpaceX, is set to embark on an extensive hiring initiative across the Asia-Pacific region. Over the next six months, the company aims to recruit 200 new employees in key cities including Singapore, Japan, Sydney, Melbourne, and India, as reported by Nick Miller, a field engineer at the firm. Headquartered in San Francisco, Cursor's primary focus is on filling roles that facilitate customer engagement and product deployment. This includes positions in go-to-market strategies, field engineering, and AI deployment engineering. Additionally, the startup is planning to establish a new office in London by July, along with smaller branches in various European cities, according to Miller. Earlier this month, Simon Green, a veteran in the Asia-Pacific tech industry and former employee of Palo Alto Networks, launched Cursor's office in Singapore. As part of their hiring strategy, the company is also seeking a recruiter for their Singapore location, with candidates expected to participate in interviews with teams based in the U.S. Cursor currently has around 800 employees across its locations in San Francisco and New York, with approximately 90 job openings listed on its website spanning Australia, New York, Berlin, London, and the Netherlands. In a notable development, Elon Musk's SpaceX announced a potential acquisition deal with Cursor in late April. This agreement grants SpaceX the option to acquire the startup for $60 billion or, if it chooses not to proceed with the acquisition, to pay $10 billion for the work Cursor has accomplished. Michael Truell, co-founder and CEO of Cursor, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "Excited to partner with the SpaceX team to scale up Composer. A meaningful step on our path to build the best place to code with AI." Cursor’s impressive client roster includes top-tier companies such as Stripe, Coinbase, Discord, Salesforce, Neuralink, and Nvidia. Nvidia, which has invested in Cursor's parent company, has integrated Cursor's platform into its engineering and chip design teams, with CEO Jensen Huang noting that the implementation of AI has significantly enhanced productivity across the board.
