CoreWeave adds ninth top AI model provider with deal to power Anthropic's Claude

CoreWeave has announced a significant multi-year partnership with Anthropic to support its Claude artificial intelligence models, as the demand for robust AI infrastructure continues to surge. Following the announcement, shares of the cloud computing company rose by approximately 4%. This new collaboration marks a milestone for CoreWeave, as it now serves nine of the ten leading AI model providers, underscoring the increasing necessity for scalable infrastructure in the AI sector. The announcement comes closely on the heels of Meta's decision to invest an additional $21 billion into CoreWeave, complementing a previous commitment of $14.2 billion made in September. While CoreWeave did not disclose the financial details of its agreement with Anthropic, it did reveal that the partnership will commence with a phased roll-out of infrastructure, with potential for future expansion. Currently, the only top foundational AI model that CoreWeave does not support is xAI, founded by Elon Musk. CoreWeave operates extensive data centers equipped with hundreds of thousands of Nvidia graphics processing units, which are crucial for powering AI models. Although major tech companies like Microsoft, OpenAI, and Google are developing their own data centers, many still rely on CoreWeave’s infrastructure to fulfill the escalating demand for AI capabilities. Anthropic's AI models, including Claude and its coding assistant Claude Code, have gained remarkable traction this year, with the company reporting an annual run rate that skyrocketed to $30 billion, a significant increase from $9 billion at the end of 2025.
