COVID shot access could tighten; RFK Jr. may claim they cause child deaths

In a controversial move, federal health officials are reportedly investigating connections between COVID-19 mRNA vaccines and the unfortunate deaths of 25 children. This scrutiny comes amid the efforts of noted anti-vaccine advocate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who may influence new recommendations that could limit vaccine access primarily to individuals aged 75 and older, as reported by The Washington Post. Sources familiar with the situation indicate that officials from the previous administration are utilizing data from the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) to assert that these vaccines may be responsible for child fatalities. However, it’s crucial to note that VAERS is a platform where anyone can report potential adverse effects related to vaccinations, and these submissions are not verified at the time of reporting. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) follows up on serious cases to validate claims, which often do not substantiate the initial reports. Federal health experts remain vigilant, continuously analyzing VAERS alongside other safety monitoring systems to ensure vaccine safety. With billions of COVID-19 doses administered globally, health organizations and researchers have affirmed that the vaccines are exceedingly safe. While there are rare associations with myocarditis and pericarditis, particularly among younger males, the risk remains low, and cases tend to be mild. During the current COVID-19 season, the incidence of heart conditions in males aged 12 to 24—the demographic at highest risk—was recorded at 27 cases per million doses. Importantly, no causal links have been established between the vaccines and reported deaths or heart transplants, according to CDC presentations. In a troubling statistic, 25 children have died from COVID-19 itself since July 2023, with 16 of them being eligible for vaccination. Alarmingly, 14 of these children had no vaccination history, highlighting the critical need for vaccination in preventing severe outcomes from the disease.
