US’s climate.gov site, taken down by Trump, relaunched by nonprofit

For many years, U.S. government researchers and sponsored programs have created an extensive array of climate resources. These range from detailed analyses to extensive datasets and basic educational materials aimed at enhancing public understanding of climate issues. The climate.gov website was originally crafted to house and share this wealth of information with the public. However, visitors to the site today are met with a redirection to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) climate page. The message displayed informs users that, in accordance with Executive Order 14303 and various legislative mandates, the resources previously available on Climate.gov have been relocated. Future climate research products will now be found at NOAA.gov/climate and its associated websites. The abrupt closure of Climate.gov has raised concerns, as the administration suggested this decision was based on the premise that climate research did not adhere to the so-called “gold standard science.” As a result, a nonprofit organization has stepped in to fill the void, launching a new platform aimed at making climate information accessible once again. This initiative reflects a renewed commitment to ensuring public access to vital climate data and resources.
